Hello! It’s been a while – two years in fact – since I last posted here.

There have been a few random things that I wanted to waffle about so will hopefully find time to make some more substantive posts over the coming months.

But a quick update on what’s been going on since my last post about exiting Supdate to Crowdcube.

The main highlight – and the reason I’ve not had time to post here – has been starting Staffology Cloud Payroll.

As an investor and adviser to a few companies in the SaaS world, it was very apparent that there was a need for a web-based payroll application that has a comprehensive API.

It was a running joke for a while with the CEOs of both Crunch and Breathe that I should go off and build it.

I had no plans to do so, but eventually curiosity got the better of me and I wanted to see how hard it’d actually be to make. And here we now are!.

I made a few angel investments since my KashFlow exit. Most of them now are done in later stage companies via my involvement with ScaleUp Group as I don’t think I’m cut out for early stage investing.

Although one of my earlier direct investments was in Breathe HR, a SaaS HR platform for smaller businesses. That was a great experience and they were recently acquired.

I still see lots of interesting stuff going on in the SaaS world, end especially around HR and Payroll.

You may also remember I previously posted about coding in prisons. This has also developed well over the past couple of years and is now known as Code 4000.

Oh, and at some point in the last few years I received the Freedom of the City Of London and was elevated to a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists.

I think that just about brings us up to date!
