If you’re a developer you’ll probably regularly find yourself using phrases like “Does that make sense?” Or show that you understand someone by saying “That makes sense”. You’re hard wired for logic.

Visual creatives on the other hand will use “I see what you mean”

And the aural creatives: “I hear what you’re saying”

The words and phrases we use leak a lot of information about the kind of person we are and how our brain works.

Other than possibly being an interesting observation, knowing this information also has practical uses.

Once you know what kind of person you’re dealing with (either because of their role or the words they use) then mirroring their use of language creates better rapport, helps build a consensus more quickly and helps get things done.
